Also known as the ‘Lakshmana Tirtha Falls’, Iruppu falls are located in the Brahmagiri Mountain Range. The falls have spiritual and divine value to them as it is believed that the water of the falls can erase all past sins of the visiting devotees. There is also a well-known temple of Shiva called ‘Rameshwara’ which is located close to the falls.
This place is where the river Kaveri starts flowing. Talacauvery is situated on the Brahmagiri hill in Kodagu district. The clan of the Kodavas have built a tank where the river originates therein filling up the tank. There is a temple at the tank which is frequented by devotees on special occasions especially on the Kaveri Changrandi day. The town of Talacauvery also houses another famous temple devoted to Goddess Kaveriamma. The temple is nestled in lush green hills and meadows and the view from the temple top is a sight to behold.
An amalgamation of Islamic and Gothic architecture, this Shiva temple was built in 1820 and contains a water tank where many fresh water fishes breed.
A proposed world heritage site, the Pushpagiri sanctuary houses many rare bird species. The Kumara Parvat top lies in the sanctuary.
Located about 10 km away from the town of Madikeri, Abbey Falls is a sight to behold. The water flows down from a cliff from a height of about 70 feet. The falls are nestled between coffee and spice gardens and the water joins the Cauvery river.
