Fashion, being as ephemeral as things can get, comes and goes quicker than you can say ‘off the shoulder’ (it’s out btw). A month into the New Year, we’ve studied, observed and discerned fashion trends that will be on top in 2017 and others that will fizzle out. Read on to find out what’s hot and what’s not.
Out With The Old
Off The Shoulder
We’ve seen it in every magazine and most runways but now, it’s time to shove your off – the – shoulder tops and dresses to the back of your closet. Cold shoulders follow suit.
Very High Heels
With athleisure taking over, it’s no surprise that heels over 3 inches are no more flattering to the fashion elite. Platforms may work, but sky high heels are a complete no.
Like most fashion trends, corsets had their moment but now their day in the sun has come to an end. Sure you’ll be wearing them as shapewear but on the outside, they’ll now be frowned upon.
Overly Distressed Denims
We never did understand the concept of denims that make you look downright homeless. A classic ripped boyfriend denim will still fly, but those shredded in poor taste are definitely out.
Daytime Night Wear
Another major 2016 trend was the slip dress. We saw runway models strutting in silky-satiny dresses in soft, romantic colors. This year though, the lingerie dressing look will probably remain in the bedroom.
In With The Fabulous
This is going to be the 2017 ‘IT’ sleeve with bell sleeves replacing the cold shoulder. The playful yet ethereal silhouette has already marked its presence on the runways of big brands.
It looks like sneakers are still going strong this year albeit with a little catch. The plain white sneaker is going to become passé and be replaced with printed snazzy ones.
This is another trend that is being carried forward from 2016. Backless shoes are still all the rage and perfect for occasions where sneakers just won’t work. Guess what, some style labels have ventured into selling fascinating shoe trends online on Shopclues. Grab them with unbeatable Shopclues offers.
We’ve seen this colour splattered over 2017 runways of major brands like Valentino, Celine and Gucci. Be it blouses, bags or boots, the blushing hue is going to be all over the place.
The structured, businessy look that stripes give seems to sit well with the fashion gods. Gear up for a stripe surprise as they take over tees, knit sweaters, bottom wear and everything else you can think of.
Time to clean out your closet and hit the high street shopping destinations!
