6. Dashashwamedh Ghat

4. Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple

Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple is situated by the Assi ghat. It was built in 1900s by a freedom fighter Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. Lord Hanuman and Ram are the presiding deity of the temple. This is an ancient temple that you should not miss out on visiting while you are in Varanasi. The laddoo is offered here as a ‘Prasad’ of Lord Hanuman which has its unique special place amongst the locals.

3. Tulsi Manasa Temple

Tulsi Manasa temple was constructed in 1964 and it is dedicated to Lord Rama. It is named after the saint poet ‘Tulsi Das’. You can marvel at the Shikhara style architecture of the temple. The walls of this temple consists of various inscriptions from the Hindu holy book ‘Ram Charit  Manas’. The upper storey of the temple has beautiful carvings depicting various chapters of ‘Ramayana’. You can enjoy a puppet show during monsoon months.

2. New Vishwanath Temple, BHU

New Vishwanath Temple is a grand temple situated at the banks of River Ganga. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It houses a very famous Jyotirlinga of Shiva named ‘Vishweshwara’. It is believed that a glance at this Jyotirlinga cleanses your soul and set you on the right path of knowledge. The divinity of this place compels you to spend some peaceful time under the caress of the Almighty.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple is situated at the western banks of River Ganga. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is believed that this temple was the center of worship since ancient times. On an average, 3000 devotees visit the temple on daily basis and on special occasions like ‘Shivratri’ the number increases to 1,00,000. You can visit the temple and admire the intricate carvings at the entrance or you can sit by the side of the famous well in the temple known as ‘Jnana Vapi’.
