Uses of Arimidex

Arimidex is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with breast cancer. It slows the growth of the cancer.

How does Arimidex work?

  • Arimidex contains anastrozole that belongs to a group of drugs called nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor.
  • Anastrozole does not kill cancer cells. Rather, it stops or slows their growth.
  • Arimidex decreases the amount of oestrogen (female sex hormone) made by the body. In some types of breast cancer, oestrogen can help the cancer cells grow. By blocking oestrogen, Arimidex may slow or stop the growth of cancer.
