CashKaro.com – India’s largest Cashback and Coupons site conducted a survey at a pan India level to study the shopping & social trends in the beauty and grooming segment.
- Nykaa tops the most favored online site for buying ‘Beauty and Grooming’ products.
- Lakmé, L’Oréal, Nivea, Gillette and Maybelline are among the most preferred cosmetics and personal care brands.
- 70% of the respondents prefer buying beauty and grooming products online.
- 65% of young adults like to edit their pictures before posting them on social media channels.
- 80% of the respondents said that makeup helps boost their confidence.
Exposure to media, easy accessibility to global trends and an unending desire to look good and presentable at all times have blossomed the beauty and grooming industry in the recent years. More and more people are spending substantial time and money on beauty and grooming. The trend is especially prevalent among the youth today.
Online shopping scores over conventional shopping methods these days. Top reasons for this shift are availability of great deals and discounts online and presence of much sought after international brands. As per the survey, Nykaa.com is by far the most preferred online destination for all beauty and grooming needs. The site is favored by women and men alike. Lakmé, L’Oréal, Maybelline, Nivea and Gillette top the list of most loved brands in India.
80% of the respondents said that they love the confidence makeup gives them. Also, with social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter & Instagram and messenger services like Whatsapp taking everyone by storm in the recent past, people have become overly conscious about their appearance. In fact, to get that one picture perfect DP (Display picture), 65% of young adults like to edit their pictures before posting them on social channels.
50% of women look upto fashion and beauty sites like Popxo.com and magazines like Cosmopolitan and Femina for their daily dose of beauty tips.
The survey revealed that 77% of women respondents spend an average of Rs.1000-Rs 5000 and 58% splurge over Rs 5000 on a monthly basis on Health and beauty products and on salon sessions. Men are not far behind too. 62% of total men respondents spend an average of Rs.1000 and over 42% like to spend over Rs 5000 on a monthly basis on their grooming products and salon sessions.
While sunscreen, kajal and lip balm top the list in women’s must haves, men swear by products like aftershave and hair gel.
The respondents were from Tier I, II & III cities with 60% female participation and respondents were primarily between the age group of 18-30 years.
The above-mentioned findings clearly indicate that people have started taking grooming seriously.
