Bharti Airtel might engage itself in a price war as soon as Reliance Jio Infocomm launches its fibre-to-the-home services later this year. Consumers can look forward to a bonanza with Sunil Mittal, revving up its countrywide wired broadband game. Reliance Jio has already started a pilot run in many cities. With the launch, it might offer an attractive combo of fast broadband services with initial data speed of 100Mbps, videos and unlimited voice calls for around Rs 1000 – 1500 a month. With Reliance setting its strategies in place, Airtel isn’t far behind as it has already slashed costs and is brewing attractive rates to hold on to its 2.5 million strong customer base. Airtel has also added other elements to provide incentives to its customers by converging telecom products across its full services portfolio, under “Home Platform”. This will soon go commercial nationally, along with other specialized ancillary services.
