BigBasket – one of the largest online grocery platforms will be investing $100 million for strengthening its supply chain. For this, BigBasket will set up small distribution centers across 25 cities in India. An Alibaba backed company – BigBasket currently has 18 large and 80 smaller distribution centers across the region. The company further plans to expand these numbers to 20 large and 100 smaller distribution centers by June this year. This will help the company reduce delivery time. It will also ensure that fresh and packed products are delivered to the consumers on time. Apart from this, the company will also set up its app operated vending machines – BB Instant, in offices and apartment complexes. 200 machines of similar kind have already been placed in regions of Bengaluru. The company plans to level up that number to 2000 in 10 large cities.
