Booking.com seems to have made a strategic move by getting inventory and exclusive prices from other online travel agencies. The company is featuring heavily discounted prices on some properties as a part of their new service which is called Booking.Basic. These rates come via third party and have various restrictions on them like no special requests, delayed confirmation, non-refundable and no modifications. This test features a majority of special rates pertaining to the Asia-Pacific region. Booking.com, with this step resorts to others to improve their competitiveness but the only question that arises here is that how far stretched will this program extend for other OTA’s to participate.
