How to Take Clopam Tablet?

  • Clopam is administered orally in the form of tablets and also intramuscularly.
  • Oral absorption of Clopam is good thus it can be administered with or without food but at a fixed time.
  • When taken in tablet form, swallow the tablet as a whole with fluids. Do not chew, break, or crush.
  • Never use Clopam tablet in more than the recommended dose or for longer periods of time without doctor’s consent.
  • Do not stop treatment with Clopam suddenly. The dosage should be tapered gradually and then stopped.
  • Stopping the medicine suddenly may lead to withdrawal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, seizures, fast heart beat etc.

Common Dosage of Clopam Tablet

  • The initial dose of Clopam for adults should not exceed 1.5 mg per day and for children 0.01-0.03 mg/kg per day.
  • The dose may be increased every 3 days from 0.25-0.5 mg per day in children and 0.5-1 mg per day in adults.
  • The maximum recommended dose is 20 mg per day for adults and 0.2 mg/kg per day for children.
  • For patients suffering from panic disorders, the initial dose is 0.25mg twice a day. The dose can be increased and the recommended dose is 1mg/day.
  • The dose should be reduced in elderly patients and patients with hepatic involvement.

  • Avoid using Clopam if you are allergic to it or to any other ingredient present in it.
  • Clopam is not recommended for patients having liver disease or glaucoma.
  • Not recommended in pregnant and lactating females.
  • Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any health problem such as respiratory disorders or obesity or a history of drug or alcohol abuse.
