It was built in 1890 and it was just a simple shed that was built by Murugan Devotee AnnaswamiNayakar who worshipped a Murguan painting. It is 500 years old and according to legend there was a woman who used to chant Murugan’s name all the time which angered her husband because he did not like his wife deeply devoted to Murugan. He got so infuriated that he cut her arm off but still she kept chanting the Lords name which made lord come down and fix her arm himself.

It is a 40-year-old temple dedicated to Lord Murugan. It has a lot of idols on each storey which are perfectly decorated and the structure of the temple itself is a hillock. According to legend  saintKanchi Mutt visited Chromepet and on seeing the hill he proposed a temple for Lord Murugan. The saint had left but the construction was slow and no one knew why the sage said that the temple be built but after 20 years a lance the prime weapon of lord Murugan was discovered and the construction speed picked up.

6. Thiruporur Kanaswamy Temple

This temple is dedicated to Hindu God murugan and according to legend Murugan fought with demons at three places the sea, land and air and conquered the place. When a sage visited here Murugan was as impressed with him as he was with Murugan and his name Porur was added to the place name. Together, they presided over the city, but the city was soon submerged in the sea. It was then saved by sage Adigail who has a separate shrine in the temple.

According to legend there was a demon named Vallan who was troubling the celestial deities. Lord Murugan sympathized with the people who were destroyed by the demon and eventually slayed the demon to restore peace in the region.
