Mumbai’s expenditure on home furniture and furnishings is lower than other cities in Asia or Europe. According to Per Hornell, Market Manager, Maharashtra, Ikea, India Mumbai’s spending’s are lower than cities like Delhi and Bangaluru. Mumbai is said to be the most expensive city in India for non-natives and is ranked higher than major global cities like Paris, Canberra, Seattle and Vienna. The Swedish furniture maker is pitching lower prices for India. It is said that there will be approximately 1000 products under ₹200. Ikea will open its first Indian store in Hyderabad in July and later in Mumbai in 2019. Consumers will be able to purchase items online as well. Ikea has trained professionals on UrbanClap who will reach the set location in 90 minutes after booking their services online. India’s home furnishings and furniture market is expected to grow tremendously. It includes retail chains like Home Centre, Home Town and online retailers like Pepperfry and Urban Ladder.
