The first thing that comes to your mind when you hear this name is of course, the Royal Bengal Tiger. Sunderbans is mostly comprised of thick mangrove forests, making it the world’s biggest mangrove sanctuary. It is also home to endangered species like the estuarine crocodile and Ganges River dolphin. Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand

The park is named after the famous hunter and naturalist, Jim Corbett. Established in 1936 for the protection of the Bengal Tiger, it is the oldest national park in India. One of the most attractive feature of the park is its diverse terrain, with hills, riverine belts, marshy depressions, grasslands and a large lake. Visitors are allowed only to certain regions of the park. It is home to 110 tree species, 50 species of mammals, 580 bird species and 25 reptile species.
Silent Valley National Park, Kerala

This tropical evergreen forest is truly a gem of Western Ghats region and remains one among the very few undisturbed tracts of land in the ghat region. Located in the Nilgiri Hills, it is considered to be one of the most ecologically diverse areas on the planet. Silent Valley National Park houses acres of pristine landscapes and a variety of flora and fauna. The region and subsequently the park, got its name from the absence of noisy cicadas, which makes the region eerily silent compared to other forests. Trek down to the Kunti River or go on a jeep safari through this virgin forest area. It is surely going to be an experience of a kind.

Bandipur National Park was once the private game area of the Mysore Maharaja, and currently is one of the most famous National Parks in South India. The animal population at Bandipur includes including tigers, elephants, leopards, gaur (Indian bison), chital or spotted deer, sambars, sloth bears and langurs, apart from over 350 species of birds.
