Uses of Naxdom

Naxdom can be used in the prevention, control and treatment of following diseases and symptoms:

  • Preventive treatment of migraine (Naproxen alleviates pain and Domperidone eases nausea & vomiting)

How does Naxdom work?

  • Naxdom contains Naproxen sodium and Domperidone as chief ingredients.
  • Naproxen Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and thereby inhibits pain and symptoms of inflammation.
  • Domperidone inhibits the activity of dopamine and exhibits antiemetic properties.

How to Take Naxdom ?

  • Naxdom is available in the form of tablets.
  • Naxdom is well absorbed orally and can be taken with or without food.
  • The tablet should be swallowed as a whole without crushing, chewing or breaking it along with plenty of fluids.
  • Naxdom should not be used as an over the counter drug. It is recommended to use this medicine under proper guidance.

Common Dosage for Naxdom

The drug dosage is decided by the physician based upon:

  • Health status/medical condition of the patient
  • Severity of symptoms
  • Reaction to the first dose
  • History of allergy/drug reactions
  • Dosage should initially be limited to smallest effective amount to decrease the severity of side effects. The dose can later be increased to get the best results.
  • The usual dose of Naxdom is once or twice daily.

Majority of the patients do not show any side effects. Few patients might show side effects which include:

  • Antidepressants
  • Antibiotics – levofloxacin, moxifloxacin)
  • Diltiazem, verapamil
  • Gastro intestinal drugs – dolasetron
  • Drugs used in cancer – increased risk of toxicity
  • Antacids – reduces the effect of Domperidone

3. Effects of Naxdom on Lab Tests

  • May increase serum potassium, Blood urea nitrogen, serum creatinine, alkaline phosphatase, LDH, AST, and ALT tests levels.
  • May reduce blood glucose, hemoglobin, and hematocrit concentrations, leukocyte and platelet counts, and CCr.
  • Bleeding time may be prolonged up to 4 days following discontinuation of therapy.
  • May alter test results for urine 5-HIAA and urine steroid determinations.

4. Interactions with Pre-existing Conditions/Diseases

Patients suffering from pre-existing liver and kidney diseases must consult their physician before consuming Naxdom.

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended when on Naxdom therapy as it may increase the risk of adverse effects and may make you feel sleepy and dizzy.
