Prithvi Theatre is a legacy of Bollywood’s first family aka. the Kapoor Khandan. Situated in the city of lights Mumbai, the idea of the theatre was incepted by Shashi Kapoor in the memory of his father Shri Prithvi Raj Kapoor. It is a subsidiary of the Shri Prithviraj Kapoor Memorial Trust & Research Foundation that aims to promote professional, and Hindi theatre. It provides and manages a well-equipped theatre space at very reasonable costs along with all technical facilities. It was developed to promote the work of aspiring artists, technicians, and researchers. Prithvi Theatre is a non-profit entity that also provides medical and educational assistance to theatre workers and their children.


Prithvi Theatre Entry Timings

Prithvi Theatre welcomes its patrons to enjoy the performances from Tuesday to Sunday every week. The regular show timings at Prithvi theatre are between 6 pm to 9 pm. The theatre remains closed on Monday for maintenance and technical rehearsals.

Prithvi Gallery

Prithvi Theatre houses a small gallery in the foyer of the theatre. You can find five large walls and two small walls in the foyer area where you can find various paintings, photographs and more. This gallery is also used by various people for exhibitions.

Prithvi Bookshop

This small bookshop comfortably sits inside the courtyard of the theatre. You can find books relating to plays, theatres, performing arts and other related topics. You can also find a small curated stock of DVDs inside this quaint place.

Prithvi Café

If you wish to find tranquillity in the middle of the fast-moving city of Mumbai, then you must visit Prithvi Café. This open-air café is encompassed with trees, bamboos, and plants which gives it a unique appeal. While visiting this café, don’t forget to relish its Irish Coffee, Cutting Chai, and Brownies. The café is open for patrons from 10 am – 11:30 pm.

Prithvi Theatre is located at 20 Janki Kutir, Juhu Church Road, Juhu, Mumbai, 400049.

Local Train: If you are travelling by Mumbai’s local train, then you must get down at Santacruz or Vile Parle station. Get down at the western side of the railway station and take an auto or taxi to the Prithvi Theatre.

Bus: If you are travelling to Prithvi Theatre by bus then you must get down near Juhu Hotel bus stand. This bus stand is located at a distance of 311 meters from the theatre.

Memorial Concert

The Memorial Concert at the Prithvi Theatre is an intimate annual concert where aspiring national and international musicians perform classical, fusion, jazz, folk music and more. On the 28th February 1985, Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, performed for the audience at the Memorial Concert. Since then Ustad Zakir Hussain has personally designed magical evenings of musical encounters on 28th February every year.
