Online grocery brands like BigBasket and Grofers are now going to prefer private labels over other brands. The companies believe that Private Labels are a great way to increase the overall revenue of the company. Stats. reveal that Private Labels amount to 35% and 40% of Grofers and BigBasket’s total revenue respectively. The brands bet on these Private labels and expect to achieve more revenue from these labels by the end of this year. BigBasket aims to increase its revenue through Private Brands to 45% this year. On the other hand, Grofers is expecting its revenue share to go up to 60% through Private Labels. This development was confirmed by Saurabh Kumar, founder of Grofers. Where BigBasket has Private Labels in around 150 categories out of its overall 600 categories, Grofers plans to scale upto 1200 products from the present 800.
