With Halloween well past behind us and Black Friday already, it seems like the dark times have befallen over us. Embrace the darkness with these gothic looks and steal the show at the theme parties like a goth-pro. Here’s how to flaunt gothic in the easiest of ways!
For Your Eyes Only
Go Devilish With Dark Bat Eyes
Add a powerful smirky look to your eyes when you want to unravel the grey sides of your personality with élan. The colours at play for this look are navy blue, dark purple and grey, with a heavy dose of metallic black eyeshadow blending with the winged eyelids.
Get this look in 4 easy steps:
- After smearing the primer on both your eyelids, draw a perfect eye-line in dark black with thickness at the eyelid ends.
- Start applying the purple eyeshadow over the whole area and stretching towards the skull bone above the eyes.
- Then apply navy-blue and metallic black eyeshadows, equally blending them as you move the brush away from the bordering eye-line.
- You have to use gentle kohl strokes on your eyebrows to complement the bat-wings. Finish off with a dose of mascara.
Classic Dark Red and Black Eyes
Gothic cannot be complete without the touch of blood red hues either in your eye makeup or your lips. Adorn this classic gothic look by including liquid metallic reds or red wet eyeshadows with your Smokey-eye essentials. You can build on it by extending this colour-play a little below the eye. Just add waterproof mascara to your eyelashes and voila, you’re the mistress of Goth.

Let’s go to the lips now
While the dark eyes are a major part of the gothic look, teaming it up with bold lip colours is equally important. Gothic makeup for the lips is a vibrant mix of all the greyed colours (read: all the hues that unleash satanic powers) thus signifying destruction and fury!
Use lip colours like purple, browns, red and maroon blended with black and blue lip pencils. Blend your lip colours perfectly using a thin lip brush. This might take more time but it’s absolutely worth it!
Goth = Bleeding Lips
Get the classic look by teaming matte reds and maroons with radiant lip glosses. For a metallic finish, a dark red or maroon lip liner with matched lip gloss would be enough. Just take care to keep the whole area moisturized before you apply each of these. You can improvise on the contouring by using lip pencils on the insides in lighter colours and going deeper towards the lip borders.
