After cheap mobile tariffs, Jio is set to expand their market in the fixed-line broadband segment. Out of 400 million broadband users only 18 million are on fixed-line. Infrastructure issues could not help in growing this segment earlier but now this space is going to see a huge change. Reliance Jio is going to set a competitive entry price of Rs. 500 which would lead to a massive penetration in the country. The price could be increased with other value-added services like TV, video calling etc. provided on top of it. Called Jio GigaFiber, this fixed line broadband service will be available across 1,100 cities with the trials already on the run with a target to reach 50 million homes.
