Touted as the exams that will change your course in life, board exams are milestones in every student’s life.

While the results of these exams have a significant impact on what you’ll be doing next in life, they DON’T necessarily define your life.

Remember that one exam won’t define your future and no matter what happens you can always figure out a way in life.

Shoojit Sircar, one of the acclaimed directors in Bollywood film industry takes on the lesser-known and often ignored problem of exam pressure and pressure to perform in a beautiful short film.

An initiative by Mirinda, #ReleaseThePressure sends out a strong message to students and parents revealing how detrimental exam pressure can be to mental health.

If you aren’t convinced yet, take a look at some of the Bollywood celebs who rose to fame, some even flunking in the boards.

1. Ayushmann Khurrana

Ayushmann Khurrana, the TV anchor-turned-actor who made his Bollywood debut with the movie Vicky Donor was a big time math hater. Ayushmann majored in English Literature and has a master’s degree in Mass Communication. However, the actor recalls that he used to have panic attacks before every math exam.

I used to get stressed during my mathematics exam. Every year, I got a panic attack the day before the exam. But believe me, it’ll all be just fine.

Nevertheless, boards didn’t defy him and now Ayushmann is an actor, a singer and a blogger.

2. Arshad Warsi

The comic fame of Munna Bhai M.B.B.S and Lage Raho Munna Bhai had an early life laden with struggles. Arshad Warsi dropped out of school when he was in 10th standard and began working as a salesman.

My problem was not HOW am I going to do my exam. My problem was WHY am I doing this exam… hahahahah… But please, don’t follow this advice!

He knew that he wasn’t cut out for studies and pursued his interest in acting with fervor and determination. Grades made no difference to what Arshad has made of life today!

3. Arjun Kapoor

He might have played the brilliant IIM-A student in 2 states, but in reality, Arjun Kapoor flunked the Class 12 board exams.

He recounts how he always wanted to be a part of the movies and recognized that other things were secondary to him. Knowing where he wanted to be, Arjun worked his way from being a fat kid to playing the lead role in Ishaqzaade.

4. Esha Deol

Hema Malini’s daughter Esha Deol had her own troubles with board exams and remembers having nightmares before every mathematics examination.

My worst exam memory is when I had to tackle maths. I always felt that I’ll fail the subject, and it used to give me sleepless nights. I always chanted the Hanuman Chalisa before my exam.

The Dhoom actress however managed to clear her boards and graduated with a degree from Mithibai College in Mumbai.

5. Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut

The three-time National award winning actress Kangana Ranaut failed in Chemistry in the Class 12 board exams. It was then she realized that she was born for something else and pursued a career in acting.

Kangana had been preparing for the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) to become a doctor but she never turned up for the exams.

These instances from the lives of Bollywood stars highlight that there is more to life and living than just marks and grades.

Of course, board exams are important, but they aren’t certainly bigger than life!
