11. Hulhumale

Hulhumale is a mesmerizing island situated to the south of the North Male Atoll. It has a strict no-littering policy and supports green architecture. The island is an amazing amalgamation of urban and island cultures, and spans across 188 hectares. Be sure to visit this island and be awestruck with nature at its best.

10. Old Friday Mosque

Built in 1656, within an intricate coral structure, this is the oldest mosque in Maldives. The interiors are ornate with lacquer work and woodcarvings. The mosque was originally built on the foundation of an old temple. Non-Muslims wishing to visit the mosque require special permission from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

9. Utheemu Ganduvaru

Utheemu Ganduvaru is a small island in Northern Maldives. It was the birthplace of Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu, a Maldivian hero who chased away Portugese invaders in 1573. The home of Sultan Mohamed is a much frequented heritage site. Inside the palace are charming swing beds, palm oil lamps and 500-year-old wooden interiors.

8. Kuredu

This isle is located on the the Lhaviyani Atoll of Maldives. The entire island is covered by a resort which has bamboo shacks and over-water bungalows. 7. National Museum

The National Museum of Maldives is situated in Sultan Park in Male. It attracts people from around the world owing to its ancient collection of coins, royal antiques, clothing, embellishments, armaments and other artefacts of the Maldivian culture.

6. Banana Reef

5. HP Reef

4. Maafushi

3. Muliaage

2. China-Maldives Friendship Bridge

This bridge is a magnificent piece of engineering connecting Male to Hulhule which is an airport city. It is a 1.39 km long bridge with concrete supports fixed inside the seabed. It is a US $210 million project out of which US $126 million will be contributed by China. The massive bridge is still under construction and will open to commuters in August 2019.
