Private carrier Vistara has implemented zero cancellation charges for a specific ticket category, if cancelled upto 72 hours prior to departure. This new amendment has been proposed in the new Passenger Charter by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA).
These changes have been implemented since June 9 for Vistara customers booking its flexi fares. Third party sites and travel agents also come under the purview of this new amendment. In a mailer to its travel partners and agents, Vistara has informed that charges of Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,500 will be charged in event of a change or cancellation if done less than 72 hours of departure.
The mailer also said that a change fee of Rs2,500 and a cancellation charge of Rs 3000 would be charged across economy, premium economy and business class in the super saver (economy) and saver categories.
The mailer further clarified that any cancellations done within 2 hours of departure would be treated as a no show with only taxes being counted as refundable amount.
Earlier Vistara’s chief strategy and commercial officer Sanjiv Kapoor had stated that the airline had already been offering free cancellations within the first 24 hours if done through its website or mobile app. But, the travel date should be at least seven days away
However, objections have been raised by the travel industry over the way the MoCA Draft has been framed.
