If you have been locked at your home for quite a while and need something to distract yourself from the monotonous work from home schedule then try your hands at baking and make pizzas! They might not be as heavenly as the ones Dominos offers, but hey, efforts count! So try out this simple recipe to bake and dine on your very first self-made pizza!
- Yeast – ½ tbsp
- Sugar – ½ cup
- Olive oil – 1 ½ tbsp
- All-purpose flour – 2 cups
- Salt – ¼ to ½ tsp
- Toppings of your choice (veggies, olives, etc)
- Pizza sauce
- Cheese – 200 gm (or as needed)
- Water – ½ cup
- Chilli flakes, oregano or Italian herbs of your choice
- Proof the yeast
Mix sugar and yeast in lukewarm water (not too hot or the yeast won’t work) and let it sit for 5 minutes or until bubbles and foam appear.
- Add dough
Once the yeast is ready, add the olive oil, 2 cups of flour and a pinch of salt and stir to combine. If it gets sticky you can add a little more flour and when done, knead it for 5 minutes on a floured surface to make it into a smooth ball.
Additional tip: Knead the dough (you can do that in a mixer as well) and if you have a little time at hand, let it rise till it becomes double in size)
- Give it shape
Once the dough is smooth and elastic, give it a shape of your choice and roll it out on a floured surface until it is about ½ ‘’ thick.
- Pre – bake the crust
Pre-bake the pizza base for 5 minutes before putting the toppings so that it;s not left unbaked and ends up ruining the entire process.
Additional tip: Prick the dough with a knife to let the air caught in the dough escape before baking it.
- Top it up and bake again
Once the dough is pre-baked, layer it with some pizza sauce, cheese and then toppings of your choice and bake for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
If this still seems a little tacky or you got super-hungry while reading the recipe, then you can try another time and just pick one of the heavenly pizzas that Dominos offers! Don’t forget to use Dominos coupons listed on CashKaro to save some bucks while you’re at it!
