Famous online marketplace, Shopclues, is looking to increase its offline presence in India. It aims to open around 100 more franchise stores in this fiscal year by expanding in Bengal, Odisha, UP, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya and Sikkim. The company entered the offline space in 2018 and opened its first store in Lucknow in November. According to Rikita Taneja, director and business head of Fashion at Shopclues, the purpose of this initiative is to have an omnichannel presence and address local needs conveniently in Tier II and III locations. She also mentioned that there could be about 1,000 to 1,500 top selling SKUs, depending on the size of the Shopclues’ offline stores.
The offline stores will offer touch and feel of the products as well as easy return and exchange facility to the customers. The company is aiming to book 4 million orders through the offline stores in the current year. It is looking to contribute 15 per cent to its overall orders for 2019-20 through this strategy.
